5 Books On My "Lemonade" Syllabus

LemonadeSyllabus As I said in my earlier post about Beyonce's  new visual album, Lemonade, one of my favorite things about this project is the fact that it made me study. The film was so layered that I knew it was only a matter of time before #blkwomansyllabus from last year and #blackpanthersyllabus, which followed Beyonce's Super Bowl performance earlier this year, would be followed up with #LemonadeSyllabus. As soon as that thought hit my mind, I stumbled upon this mashup from Essence of some of the great reads that have been recommended under this hashtag by prominent black women scholars. Started by  Rutgers University professor  Candice Benbow, the #LemonadeSyllabus is a collection of books by black women on the themes of womanism, personal strength, sisterhood, and perseverance. Here are a few of my additions:
